Fed: Man ordered to stay away from parliament house
CANBERRA, Feb 13 AAP - A man who jumped from the public gallery onto the floor of federal
parliament was today ordered to stay away from Parliament House and the United States
embassy in Canberra.
The ACT Magistrates Court was told Michael Sidney James, 32, had travelled from Victoria
to Canberra to protest against the US government.
He was charged with disrupting the procedures of parliament, causing alarm and fear
to members of the House of Representatives and intimidating officials.
Chief Magistrate Ron Cahill ordered James not to go within 100 metres of Parliament
House or the United States embassy.
James was granted bail and must reappear in court on March 4 for mention.
