FED: New Country Party to contest federal election

A new political party representing small businesses and regional Australia has been
formed to contest the federal election at the end of the year.

The New Country Party's main policies will be economy-based and it will campaign for
better conditions for Australian agriculture, manufacturing and small business.

The party's steering committee president JACK FRANCIS says the party will register
with the Australian Electoral Commission in the next two weeks.
